Meet Jon-Artur, business operations associate at Klarna

“Do you like your job? You could like it even more!”

Jon-Artur Maddock-Holte is a business operations associate at Klarna and has been with the company for nearly three years. When Klarna made a round of layoffs a few years ago, he realized that an active trade union is necessary to make sure everything is done by the book.

– The union works as a watch dog for employees, says Jon-Artur.

When you’re in a union, you have more of a say about your future at work.

– It doesn’t matter if you’ve been at Klarna for a long time or recently started, the union provides security if something happens. There might suddenly be layoffs, or a business unit is divested to another company, Jon-Artur explains, who will candidate to be one of the local representatives at Klarna.

One of his priorities  is fair pay – he firmly believes that employees with the same tasks should also be paid the same salary. Another issue that he’s invested in is job security.

– At the moment, when you come back from parental or study leave, you can end up in any department, not necessarily with your former teammates who you know and feel comfortable with, says Jon-Artur.

The Swedish model is unique, regulated both by laws and by collective agreements. A collective bargaining agreement (CBA) is a written agreement on terms of employment between an employer-representative organisation or an employer and a union organisation.

A CBA determines, among other things, your working hours, how much compensation you receive for overtime and parental leave, the length of your notice period and how much salary and pension you receive.

Here is the great news: Finansförbundet has the best CBA for you in finance and fintech. As a member, you have the backing to influence and improve your everyday work life and working conditions.
